I want an advice about what is the most suitable kind of flowmeter to use for measuring the flow through an ejector in a sulphur degassing pit

eli70, on our sulphur plants the flow to the ejector is not measured. Instead the air being sucted into the pit is measured with a steam traced venturi. But we still have problems with it.

Thanks for your reply CJKruger. The main reason that I have put this post is to have opinions about which kind of flowmeters people think are more suitable in sulphur degassing applications. In our Claus plant we use an orifice type flowmeter and we are facing many problems in order to have a reliable measurement in this application. 字串2 On the other hand we have recently installed a new tail gas clean up unit in which for the same application a venturi type flowmeter is used without having any problems up to now. So we are wondering if it is worth to change the flowmeter to the Claus plant to a venturi type.

I've seen both orifice plates with purges on the impulse lines and vortex meters used in this service. All of the sulfur plants I've seen measure this flow between the pit and the eductor. I have seen one that had measurement on both the vent stack and the off gas line.
This is a challenging service that will over time find the weaknesses in your heat input and insulation, if any exist.
